PROS:1080p, one touch uploads, better than the U15. Solid performing camera.

CONS:Expensive for the pocket camcorder market. Remember when these camcorders were under $200? You can get the HMX-U10 for under $100.

FINAL THOUGHTS:The strongest features on the market and 1080p quality makes your youtube videos not suck with pixelation. However, the price might scare you away. Just keep in mind the greater features, and the price is just a little more than A Flip Mino HD, but under that of the Flip SlideHD.

We love the smooth controls, the added 3x OPTICAL zoom, image stabilization, and high storage with SD cards.

We don't love the bulky lens that doesn't fit in all pockets.

However, the one touch uploads to Youtube make all the difference.

FINAL THOUGHTS: The Samsung HMX-U15 is a great camcorder if you are willing to pay over $200. As the pocket camcorder market gets stronger, makers are packing in more features but charging more. A great camcorder, and super competitive with the Flip Videos.

This camcorder provides HD 1280 x 720 video, 8 mp jpg photos for email and facebook, a strong lens and focal zoom range, and auto exposure and balance. With top notch support, and growing advances in Vivitar's budget camcorder line, the 865HD is the second best model they have, just under the newest 870hd model.

Retail Price: $179, Street Price: Less than $99

PROS: Pictbridge, 8 mp camera, 20 fps 720p high definition, one of the smallest hd camcorders available, image stabilization ... and the list goes on!

CONS: SD storage only allows up to 4gb

FINAL THOUGHTS: Although it provides high definition, it is not true high def, and struggles with in door light. The 4gb storage max limit is also dissapointing. However, with many features like a strong photo quality, straight to printer photo printing, image stabilization and more, this camcorder makes up for its down falls.

We were pumped for this video camera, especially at such a small price tag. Hopes were high, and Vivitar managed to impress, but not knock our socks off. Providing up to 10 feet waterproof is nice, but digital zoom only is disappointing especially when all the fish are bubbling around you and below you.

This being said, the 8 megapixel still shots produce great results, and the 640x480 vga video isn't great, but enough to email video and upload vids to youtube super easy to share the vacation with the family and friends.

That being said, with the progress in video technology right now, we hope that Vivitar will upgrade the 850W to a newer High Definition video camera soon.

FINAL THOUGHTS: For the price its about the best underwater you can get, but unfortunately there are a few camcorders with underwater housing for just a little bit more money that you would be much happier with.

The features of the 820 are similar to the 810. The difference is in the vertical body style versus the horizontal body style, the quality of the hd, and some added features.

The most notable feature and the definite selling point versus its horizontal brother is it shoots in the standard 30 frames per second HD video. 810 shoots in 20 fps, which is basically a fopah.

Other noteworthy features included a fast electronic shutter, a 5 or 10 second self timer, and HDMI out support to hd compatible tvs.

Fortunately it supports SDHC cards up to 8gb, and for this model is a sufficient size, even though 32gb would be preferred.

Here are the specs:

PROS: 30fps 720p high quality video, great 8 MP digital camera, and HDMI support

CONS: Poor 4x digital zoom, no sequence shot support, only 8gb card support

LAST THOUGHTS: An improvement over the 810hd, this better camcorder has the great features of a digital camera, with a strong video quality support. At such a cheap price it is a cam powerhouse.

This handheld style video camera with 2.7" lcd, 8 megapixel digital still photos, and HD is some of its base features. Other features to note include the no pc required pictbridge printer support to transfer photos straight to a photo printer, aperture, white balance, and avi jpg and wav format support.

This cheap camcorder is on the low end of Vivitar's line and is only recommended if price is an issue. We like this camcorder, but we were disappointed with only a digital zoom and the 720p HD only shoots 20 FPS, instead of the standard 30 fps(frames per second), and the sought after 60 fps. This is a reduction in quality.

We were heavily impressed with its 8 MP camera features.

For the technically minded here is Vivitar 810HD standard features:

PROS: Awesome digital camera features. High quality 8 Megapixel size with Pictbridge technology(no computer needed).

CONS: HD quality only shoots 20 frames per second rather than the standard 30 fps. 8x digital zoom is lacking.

Despite its short falls, it does stand on its own as a digital camera. If you are in need of a digital camera with the option to shoot video this may just be the camera for you.
