We were pumped for this video camera, especially at such a small price tag. Hopes were high, and Vivitar managed to impress, but not knock our socks off. Providing up to 10 feet waterproof is nice, but digital zoom only is disappointing especially when all the fish are bubbling around you and below you.
This being said, the 8 megapixel still shots produce great results, and the 640x480 vga video isn't great, but enough to email video and upload vids to youtube super easy to share the vacation with the family and friends.
That being said, with the progress in video technology right now, we hope that Vivitar will upgrade the 850W to a newer High Definition video camera soon.

FINAL THOUGHTS: For the price its about the best underwater you can get, but unfortunately there are a few camcorders with underwater housing for just a little bit more money that you would be much happier with.
