Aiptek AHD H12 Extreme Review With Video

May 7th, 2010

The Aiptek H12 review is the newest, and highest quality pocket camcorder from Aiptek yet. With a price tag of only $199 it is the cheapest Full HD out.

Competing with small full high definition camcorders like the Canon Vixia, JVC Everio-X, Sony HD-Handyman, and Panasonic's line of small HD camcorders it features nearly the same specs, and often time better specs at a price that is 1/3rd to 1/5th cheaper than the name brand competitors. The Canon will run you over $1000, the Everio - $700, and the others somewhere in between.

How can Aiptek do it? By saving money on advertising, focusing only on affordable camcorders, and smart outsourcing to high quality manufacturers.

I've been using the Aiptek AHD-H12, which is known as the H12 Extreme, in countries outside the US, and my impression of it is overall positive. I have a few quips which I'll discuss at the end of the article.

Here is my video review of the camera:

Here is a video showing 1080p quality of the camera:

PROS: Lightweight, FULL HD, Price, Image Stabilization, Sequence Photos, 10 Megapixel Camera, Easy Youtube uploads, high quality looks great even on big screen tvs, take photos and shoot video simultaneously

CONS:
Sequence photos for only 1 second(10 images), some action video produces traces in video(not bad), battery life is short, noisy menu buttons captured on mic(can be turned off)

Overall a great camera for both family videos, and amateur film makers. You will love the video, but may not be too happy with the loud menu and lacking sequence shots, and low battery capacity.

This video is an awesome camera for most casual users, and at such a cheap price you can't go wrong.
